An Oklahoma cop was filmed by colleagues crying hysterically as he crawled from the bedroom where he had just shot dead his wife - another serving police officer.

Cleveland County Deputy Vaughn Cannon, 41, was arrested after police in Oklahoma City were called to reports of a 2am domestic disturbance at the home in Brookstone Lake Drive.

Bodycam footage shows the moment officers arrived at the door of the bedroom where Cannon was weeping next to the body of his wife, Deputy Jordan Cannon, 40.

'Is there anybody else in there with you?' one officer shouts.

'There's my wife,' Cannon replied.

'Is she OK?' the officer demanded.

'No,' Cannon said.

'We need to help her, but we can't help her unless you help us, you know how this works,' the officer shouts.

'Please don't have a weapon, please don't have a weapon,' his colleague warns.

The door edges open and Cannon crawls out, seemingly trying to make a call on the phone in his hand. 'Uncle come see me, uncle come see me,' he shouts into the phone.

'Uncle Charles, Charles, Charles, Charles.'

The dramatic footage was released by the police department where everybody involved worked.

Cleveland County Sheriff Chris Amason said he was 'heartbroken' by the death of his colleague, allegedly at the hands of the man he had personally sworn into the department in March 2021.

'I'm so mad, I'm pissed that he killed her,' he told KFOR.

'To be honest with you, we are all angry and upset about this.

'I, as a Sheriff have not been aware of the two of them having any domestic issues while they worked here.'

'Jordan has family and they are heartbroken obviously.

'She has a 17-year-old who is obviously negatively affected by this and two stepchildren from the marriage as well.

'They will need time and space to heal.'

Speaking at a press conference later, he added: 'This is something no one can begin to prepare for, we ask for your thoughts and prayers as we navigate this devastating event,' he told a press conference later.

'Jordon was a ray of sunshine who had a smile that could light up a room. She loved law enforcement and had a heart for serving others.'

Hundreds of people turned out for an emotional candlelit vigil outside the Cleveland County Courthouse who filed divorce papers against her husband, only to withdraw them months later.

Colleague Lt Kyle Bridges described the murdered woman as 'an example to the community'.

'She was an example not only for the community, but for police officers and more particularly female officers,' he added.

'You're shocked, you're sad, you're angry, because it's something that is senseless and tragic,' he told a press conference.

The bodycam footage ends with an officer stepping into the bedroom over the prostrate body of Cannon as another officer cuffs him and advises him to 'breathe'.

Jordan followed her husband into the Cleveland County Sheriff's Office in June 2021, joining as a school resource officer before moving to the patrol division, serving later as an instructor on the crisis intervention team.

The Okarche Police Department, where Jordan began her career, paid a moving tribute to her on its Facebook page.

'Many will remember her dedication to the Okarche Public Schools, where she would be found most days reading to kids and keeping them safe,' wrote Police Chief Forrest R Smith

'This heinous act not only robs us of a dedicated and courageous public servant, but it also shakes the very foundations of the community she served.

'In the end, it's not the years in the uniform that count; it's the sacrifices made, the lives touched, and the legacy left behind.'

Jordan was pronounced dead at the scene. Cannon has been arrested and charged with one count of murder.
